London Terror Attacks: 10 Things We Know So Far

The assailant, Khalid Masood, 52, of West Midlands, reportedly had a criminal record and may have had connections to violent extremism, British Prime Minister Theresa May said. "Our thoughts are with those who are caught up in these awful events".

London Bridge Tube station was closed and London Bridge was closed in both directions.

"Our hearts are with the families and loved ones of the victims. Thank you to the emergency services".

Another eyewitness tells Sky he heard a burst of gunfire during the incident.

The BBC showed dozens of people, evidently caught up in the attack, being escorted through a police cordon with their hands on their heads.

Witnesses report a vehicle hitting pedestrians and injured people on the ground.

London's Metropolitan Police said they first responded to the bridge at 10:08 p.m. (5:08 p.m. ET).
