As is expected from a Telltale episodic series, player choice will be at the heart of the experience, and those choices made in season one will carry over.
The first boxed season of Minecraft: Story Mode debuted at No.5 in the UK Weekly Charts when it launched back in October 2015, with its five-episode season eventually extended to encompass eight individual episodes.
Season 2 once again follows Jesse and the gang, and focuses on the aftermath of Wither Storm's defeat. Now stuck with reponsibilities to fulfill instead of being intrepid explorers roaming the world, "old friendships have started to fade - at least until Jesse's hand gets stuck in a creepy gauntlet that belongs to an ancient underwater temple". This kicks off a new journey that includes both old friends and entirely new characters while retaining Telltale's classic tough choices.
Season 2 is in development and players can download the premiere, Episode 1: Hero In Residence, in July.
Minecraft: Story Mode comes to Xbox One, PS4, PC, iOS and Android-based devices with the release of Hero in Residence on July 11.
The original cast of the game, Patton Oswalt, Catherine Taber, Ashley Johnson and Scott Porter have also been announced to return for the sequel, with more cast members and details to be revealed at a later date. There will be some cameos by a number of the Minecraft YouTube community as well too, with Stampy Cat and stacyplays confirmed so far.
Season 2 will introduce support for Telltale's "Crowd Play", which lets other people join in by using their mobile devices to vote on decisions. Approaching decision making in this manner could lead to interesting results with no one knowing exactly how the story will play out.
