Defense Attorney Speaks on Bill Cosby Trial

Before Tuesday, Ms Constand had never spoken about Cosby in public, barred from doing so under the terms of a confidential settlement they reached in 2006.

Speaking for the first time Tuesday, Andrea Constand told the jury in detail how Comedian Bill Cosby, a man she saw as her mentor, allegedly drugged and violated her.

Attorneys for Bill Cosby turned their attention to early discrepancies in statements by the woman who has accused him of sexually assaulting her in 2004, as they sought to discredit prosecutors' star witness.

During the start of the cross-examination of Constand, defense lawyer Angela C. Agrusa suggested Constand gave inconsistent statements to investigators concerning her contact with Cosby before and after the alleged incident and implied her testimony can not be trusted.

After a series of phone calls, Constand, who was then in her 30s, said the married Cosby began inviting her to dinner at his house and other events.

Cosby, who turns 80 in July and is reportedly legally blind, appeared to listen attentively to Constand's testimony, occasionally consulted with his lawyers but did not show any outward reaction.

"In my head, I was trying to get my hands to move or my legs to move, but I was frozen", Andrea Constand, a 44-year-old former employee of the basketball program at Temple University, said in their long-awaited courtroom confrontation.

While on the stand on Tuesday, Constand said she rejected Cosby's casual advances twice before he offered her three blue pills after dinner during one encounter.

On the third day of Cosby's trial in Philadelphia, Andrea Constand was questioned at length by the entertainer's lawyer about her phone records.

He says she told him and two other investigators that she felt Cosby place "something foreign" in her genitals but wasn't specific. He said she testified in 1996 about going to Cosby's home after the alleged assault, but Johnson testified Monday that encounter happened beforehand.

They never named the country directly, but the implication was clear. "The Iranian nation will go forward", he added. That statement came after the Iranian Revolutionary Guard blamed the United States and Saudi leaders for the attack.

Constand scoffed at the notion of a romantic relationship with Cosby.

Constand is one of around 60 women who have accused Cosby of sexually violating them but the prosecution has gone ahead on just Constand's allegations due to the statute of limitations passing for almost every other of those claims.

She says they became friends over conversations about the basketball team and later her career. He faces three felony charges of aggravated indecent assault.

The accuser also recollected the moments when Cosby tried to physically assault her.

Constand lost consciousness after Cosby helped her to the couch and provided a pillow for support, she said.

Constand will take the stand again Wednesday. "Put 'em down, they're your friends".

And she explained away numerous phone calls they had afterward by saying she was merely returning Cosby's messages about the women's basketball squad at Temple University, where he was a powerful member of the board of trustees and she was director of team operations.

Constand: "I wanted it to stop". According to the charging document in the case, Constand's mother, Gianna Constand, noticed, after her daughter moved back to her native Toronto, that her personality and demeanor changed and she suffered from nightmares. In court on Tuesday, Constand said she had been alone with Cosby before the incident.

Miller says Johnson told a similar story at her deposition, including tearful details of how she woke up on a bed with her dress pulled down and her breast exposed.
