Hitting out at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Government over the farmers' protest in Mandsaur, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi earlier on Tuesday accused the Centre of waging war against nation's farmers.
Gandhi was released after over four hours of detention in the guest house of a cement company.
Under the banner of the BKU, a procession was taken out here on Wednesday to express solidarity with the agitating farmers of Madhya Pradesh and condemn the police action on them in Mandsaur.
SDM Mandsaur N S Rajawat said that the curfew relaxation was made only for women and children up to the age of 10 years in Mandsaur and Pipliamandi.
"If the Uttar Pradesh government is really serious about addressing the problems and plight of the farmers, then it must start resolving their problems lest a Mandsaur-like situation grips the state and unrest fans out", he told PTI.
Widespread violence, including several incidents of arson, have been reported from western Madhya Pradesh, during the week-long agitation. When you can waive Rs 1,14,000 crore of loans taken by corporates, why can't you waive farmers' loans?

He said the town inspector of Piplayamandi, Anil Singh Thakur, has been removed from field duties in connection with the firing on farmers. The cynosure of Thursday's drama was Rahul Gandhi, and more drama may be on the way with representatives of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) slated to visit on Friday.
Amid the ongoing agitation by farmers in Maharashtra, a cultivator allegedly committed suicide at a village in Solapur district, leaving behind a note purportedly stating that he should not be cremated till the chief minister visits his place and meets their demands. Mandsaur especially has been on the boil since past two days after five farmers were killed in police firing there. It's time politicians stopped waving the loan waiver card to farmers and bring about an awareness that benefits them.
