Congressman says member of his staff wounded

Staffer for Texas Rep. Williams shot at congressional baseball practice

Staff member of US Rep. Roger Williams injured in Virginia shooting

Barth, a congressional staffer for Texas Rep. Roger Williams, was identified as one of the five people hit by gunfire this morning during the practice, Williams confirmed via social media.

But an unnamed member of Williams' staff was shot, according to a release issued by the congressional rep's office.

Also at practice were U.S. Reps.

Ahead of the annual charity Congressional baseball game, the Republican team was holding their final early-morning practice, when a gunman opened fire after asking their political affiliation.

"There will be those who will talk about what's wrong with America, but in this case, Officers [Crystal] Griner and [David] Bailey, we saw what's right with America", Williams said at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, calling the Capitol Police officers "heroes".

Williams has served as the Republican baseball team's coach since joining Congress in 2013. "He held me, I held him". Jeff Flake of Arizona took off his belt and "made a tourniquet around Zack's leg to stop the bleeding". I think he was not able to get on the field because the gate was locked on the other side.

Growing frenzy outside court as Cosby deliberations wear on
Though dozens of women have accused Cosby of sexual misconduct, only Constand's accusations led to criminal charges. Jackson claimed the story captured Constand's interest, who confessed something similar had happened to her.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana was also hit by gunfire.

Asked about the gunman, Williams said he believes Hodgkinson had "an issue" that arose from a hypersensitive political climate in Washington, D.C., and in the nation this year. Rep. Kevin Brady of The Woodlands left just moments before the gunfire erupted, his office said.

Barton, in an interview with NBC News, said he and his two sons ducked for cover when the shooting started. "And we're going to play baseball tomorrow". "Some of us were on the ground", Barton said.

"There were dozens, if not hundreds, of shots fired", Barton said.

"When I got into the dugout, it wasn't 10 seconds that Zack had come running in from the outfield and ... we landed in each other's arms", Williams said, describing the chaotic scene.

Conway, of Midland, posted a brief message about the shooting on Facebook, saying he was unharmed and asking people to keep those wounded "in your prayers today".
