CNN Tweets Correction At Trump In Wake Of Retraction, Resignations

After being contacted by a reporter for BuzzFeed, CNN posted an editor's note retracting the story, saying it did not meet the network's editorial standards, and it apologized to Scaramucci.

A spokesman for the TV channel had announced that "in the aftermath of the retraction of a story published on, CNN has accepted the resignations of the employees involved in the story's publication".

The three journalists are Mr Thomas Frank, the writer of the story, Mr Eric Lichtblau, an editor in CNN's investigative unit, and Mr Lex Haris, who oversaw the unit, the network had earlier reported.

Across pro-Trump media, pundits and reporters jumped on the incident as an example of the network's lack of credibility and repeated claims oft-repeated by President Donald Trump that the network was "fake news".

CNN executives, from CNN Worldwide President Jeff Zucker on down, believe they can not get stories wrong given Trump's willingness to attack the network.

Joe Concha discussed CNN's reporting on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" after the company had to correct two stories related to the the current investigation into Russian Federation meddling during the presidential campaign.

CNN anchor Michael Smerconish is not embarrassed by his network's shoddy Russian Federation reporting last week, because they took immediate steps to correct it.

He can afford to lose just two Republican senators from the party's 52-seat majority in the 100-seat Senate to pass healthcare. Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana also said he is waiting to hear from leaders about revisions before deciding how he'll vote.

@CNN has more integrity on its worst day than Donald Trump has on his best. "And the CEO of CNN (Jeff Zucker) said in our internal meeting, he said good job everybody covering the climate accords, but we're done with that, let's get back to Russian Federation".

"I don't mind when you get it wrong, but the problem is as you said, thinly sourced as in only one source", he said. Three high-ranking journalists at the network resigned.

A representative for the network did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday morning.

Trump has been unhappy with CNN since he was a candidate, and has been particularly annoyed by its reporting on connections with Russian Federation.

Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., tweeted a link to the Bonifield video. "They're looking for something more, and I think they deserve something better from our news media".

Trump frequently praises the more conservative Fox News and criticizes the more liberal CNN, the New York Times and the Washington Post - often accusing them of disseminating what he calls "fake news".
