Across pro-Trump media, pundits and reporters jumped on the incident as an example of the network's lack of credibility and repeated claims oft-repeated by President Donald Trump that the network was "fake news".
CNN executives, from CNN Worldwide President Jeff Zucker on down, believe they can not get stories wrong given Trump's willingness to attack the network.

Trump frequently praises the more conservative Fox News and criticizes the more liberal CNN, the New York Times and the Washington Post - often accusing them of disseminating what he calls "fake news".
