Mumbai: Star batsman Rohit Sharma has been called back to the Team India squad for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced, on Sunday. M Vijay, too, regained fitness, after wrist and shoulder injuries, and was named in the squad.

Nair is unlucky to miss out despite having scored unbeaten triple century against England at Chennai in December 2016. KL Rahul, who has recovered from the shoulder injury that kept him out of the IPL, Champions Trophy and the West Indies series also keeps his place in the 15-member squad.

The two sides will also play a five-match ODI series and a single T20 worldwide.

Pandya's maiden call-up to the Test side came in November previous year for the home series against England. R Ashwin, the man of the series on that occasion, will marshall the spin attack with Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav for company.

KL Rahul, who has completed his rehabilitation after an injury, will be playing his first global match since the fourth Test against Australia in March.

The first Test is scheduled to start on 26 July in Galle with further matches in Comlombo and Pallekele.

The Virat Kohli-led side is set to play 3-Test, five One-Day Internationals (ODI) and a one-off Twenty20 International against the Lankan Lions.

Bowling duties will be shared by Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami.
