WARRI-The member representing the Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Daniel Reyenieju, has pleaded with the Niger Delta Avengers not to carry out its threat of crippling oil production in the region over alleged Federal Government insincerity on the development of the region.
Spokesman of the NDA, General Murdoch Agbinibo, stated that the group had threatened that the militants would restart warfare in the region with Operation Red Economy, aimed at destroying Nigeria's economy over the snail speed of the Federal Government in the peace process in the region. It made it known that it warned Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) led by former Minister of Information, Chief Edwin Clark, Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA) and therefore disowned them. We strongly advise Niger Delta leaders not to be deceived by the antics of the Federal Government to dialogue without the implementation of promises.
The Acting Governor said the Avengers' threat, if actualized, would be counterproductive in more ways than one, including loss of lives of the unprotected people who could be the butt of military attacks and he therefore sued for more patience by the people of the Niger Delta.
The Reformed Niger Delta Avengers had said the NDA's threat was the handiwork of Tompolo.
The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani, gave the indication after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday.
Blake Lively is Unrecognizable While Filming Her New Movie
Blake Lively was unrecognizable while huddling on the streets on Dublin filming her latest movie, The Rhythm Section . But you gotta admit: we've come a long, long way from the days of Serena van der Woodsen and the Upper East Side .
The Nigerian Navy has declared its readiness to curtail security threats in the riverine areas, such as sea piracy, kidnapping, illegal bunkering, militancy, even as the Niger Delta Avengers threatens to bomb oil facility in Delta State. "We are at all times ready to engage them and other groups and stakeholders", Usani told reporters at the presidential villa in Abuja.
"And that is all we have been doing; these issues raised genuinely to the benefits of people of the region are being attended to".
He added that PANDEF was sending a delegation to meet the group's leaders.
Nigeria came out of recession in the second quarter of this year as prices strengthened, attacks ended and oil production rose. Eminent Nigerians have repeatedly said in recent times that Nigeria has never been divided like this since her independence in 1960.
"We passionately appeal to the Niger Delta Avengers not to resume hostilities, because Deltans will be the greatest losers".
