Ford India today launched its new 2017 Ford EcoSport in the country at a starting price of Rs 7.31 lakh for the petrol manual variant. The auto comes gets some updates to its exterior as well as interior, not only this, it also gets a Ford's new 1.5-litre Dragon petrol engine that makes 121 bhp of maximum along with the previous 1.5-litre diesel engine that develops 99bhp.
The all-new Ford EcoSport 2017 is a game-changing product from Ford that, like its predecessor, is definitely going to raise the bar for compact SUVs. The 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine is retained for new EcoSport. The Ford Ecosport in comparison is priced at Rs 8.01-10.67 lakh making it most expensive SUV in the range, especially if one considers the top of the line variants. Since its launch in June 2013, the EcoSport has sold a total of 210,320 units in India till end-September 2017.
The front fascia of the EcoSport facelift features a two-slat grille placed a little bit higher than the outgoing version, twin-pot headlamps with projector beams, and the indicators now integrated into the bumper. Ford says the petrol engine mated to a manual gearbox will yield a mileage of 17 km per litre. Ford Ecosport is also the only vehicle in the segment which offers an automatic transmission with a petrol engine. This Dragon Series engine produces 121 BHP @ 6,500 rpm and 150 Nm of torque @ 4,500 rpm.
As far as ride & handling is concerned, Ford will update the engine line-up for an improved driving experience, Ford has also improved the NVH levels, the ride height is reduced, suspensions are re-tuned, and an Electronic Stability Control (ESC). Dual front driver and passenger side airbags along with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) will be offered as standard equipment across all variants.

The diesel sports the tried-and-tested 1.5 litre, four-cylinder engine that puts out 100 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque, mated to five-speed manual transmission with a fuel efficiency figure of 23 kmpl.
The auto comes with a six airbags for the top version.
The Ford Ecosport also comes with a tyre monitoring system which can tell you the pressure of the tyres in the auto. this is a segment first feature and comes only in premium cars like the Volkswagen Tiguan.
