Past year celebrations were rather peaceful, although protests continued with a lot of security in place.

Heavy security arrangements are in place in Karnataka today on the occasion of Tipu Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the 18th century ruler of the kingdom of Mysore. "Tipu Jayanti is being celebrated", added Sukumar.
