"They can't have a movie rooted in women's empowerment being part-financed by a man accused of sexual misconduct against women". But Gadot now reportedly demands that Warner Brothers sever the ties, ensuring the moral integrity of the character she portrays.

The movie, co-financed by Ratner's production company RatPac-Dune Entertainment and Warner Brothers, became the highest-earning film directed by a woman in its first weekend at the U.S. box office.

RatPac-Dune Entertainment, Ratner's company that he formed with Trump henchman / Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, helped to co-finance the first Wonder Woman and has been involved in pretty much every major Warner Bros. film in the past couple of years. Ratner has vehemently denied the allegations through his attorney, Marty Singer.

After numerous accusations of rape and sexual assault first surfaced against producer Harvey Weinstein last month, Gadot strongly condemned sexual harassment and applauded women who had come forward with allegations of wrongdoing.

She has been outspoken against the barrage of sexual misconduct allegations levied against Hollywood heavyweights in recent weeks, lauding the "courageous women confronting their fears and speaking out".

Within minutes it went viral, as is the case with trailers of films starring any of the Khans trinity. That is one draw to the movie but it is something more than just that.

Wonder Woman is the best superhero movie of all time, according to influential United States online review site, Rotten Tomatoes.

The festival announced it will bestow its "Rising Star Award - Actress, on Wonder Woman star Gal Godot" at its Awards Gala at the Palm Springs Convention Centre.

Gadot did not link her cancellation at the awards dinner to the allegations against Ratner, instead saying she had a scheduling conflict. Now Gadot has decided against doing Wonder Woman 2.

Festival board chairman Harold Matzner praised Gadot's performance as the star-spangled warrior in the summer blockbuster film. He also added that the theme of the film is especially apt for today where we talk about empowering everyone irrespective of gender and age.

The film, which cost $149 million to make, grossed over $821 million worldwide, making it the seventh highest grossing film of 2017. It also set a record for having the largest opening for a female-led comic-based film.
