Christopher Plummer says Kevin Spacey situation is 'very sad'

How Much Might It Cost to Replace Kevin Spacey in Ridley Scott's New Movie?

Christopher Plummer Opens Up About Taking Over Kevin Spacey's Role: 'The Situation Is Very Sad'

"I think it's very sad what happened to him". Kevin is such a talented, terrifically gifted actor, it was just so sad, and it is such a shame.

Reshoots begin on Monday, with the plan to stick to the original release date for the film of 22 December.

In an unprecedented move, Spacey, enduring a potentially career-ending scandal after over a dozen men have come forward to allege sexual impropriety on his part, is being removed from the finished film weeks before its scheduled release. "And that's all I can say because that's it".

"Ages ago I was in contention for [the role], way back".

It was announced last week that Spacey would be cut out of the movie, in which he plays J. Paul Getty, and replaced by Plummer via costly reshoots.

Michael Buble to headline British Summer Time 2018 in Hyde Park
A post on the "Haven't Met You Yet" singer's official Facebook page announced he will headline the U.K.'s BST Festival next July. Excited to announce that Michael will be headlining London's British Summer Time at Hyde Park BST Hyde Park on Friday 13th July.

"It isn't replacing. In a amusing way it's starting all over again because it's going to be different, naturally", Plummer told Entertainment Tonight.

Plummer's response, which would probably spark Twitter backlash if people weren't so busy debating Colin Kaepernick's GQ Citizen of the Year honor, comes just about a month after filmmaker Woody Allen found himself in hot water for using the same term, "sad," to describe the onslaught of allegations against Harvey Weinstein. I admire Ridley Scott and I'm thrilled to be making a movie for him.

Plummer, 87, told Confidential on Sunday that he understands the fascination around the abrupt and highly unusual recasting but "I'm used to big roles and lots of words". So I was familiar with it, and then Ridley came to me and I agreed. "But I've got to forget that and go and do it, because it's a very well written script and Ridley has been very good". "The script is wonderful".

When asked who he would most like to profile, Talese, 85, said: 'I would like to talk to Kevin Spacey. Rapp claimed Spacey sexually assaulted him when he was only 14. Though co-stars Michelle Williams and Mark Wahlberg are on-board to participate in the reshoots, it's possible that Plummer will film many of his scenes against a green screen, being inserted digitally into existing footage-a technical challenge that comes with significant risk and vast cost.

Speaking for the first time about the decision, Plummer told Entertainment Tonight that he has found it tough not thinking about the controversy surrounding the House of Cards actor.
