Season over for Seahawks RB Prosise

Byron Maxwell signing with Seattle Seahawks, per reports

Seahawks to sign Byron Maxwell in wake of Richard Sherman injury

Seattle also officially placed cornerback Richard Sherman on injured reserve and signed cornerback Byron Maxwell.

Sherman suffered a season-ending Achilles injury on Thursday at Arizona and the Seahawks are bringing back Maxwell to add depth at cornerback. In his absence, the Seahawks went with Jeremy Lane for the rest of the game.

But Maxwell lasted only one season in Philadelphia, shipped off to Miami along with Kiko Alonso in what amounted to salary dumps. He spent just one season with the Eagles before being moved to the Miami Dolphins and was released from the team back in late October.

Prosise, 23, has struggled to establish himself as a nice complementary piece in Seattle's crowded backfield the way he did last campaign.

Davis was a fourth-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was claimed by the Seahawks this past May and was relegated to the practice squad prior to the regular season.

Coach Pete Carroll said during the preseason that Davis had the ability to be either an early-down back or fill the two-minute/third-down back role that Prosise has typically held (Davis had 70 receptions during his SC career and 10 for 63 yards in his two seasons with the 49ers).
