How Earth changed in 20 years

NASA creates ultimate time-lapse of life on Earth

NASA Earth time lapse shows 20 years of seasonal changes in 2.5 minutes

NASA has been continuously monitoring physical properties of Earth from space since 1997.

Programmer Alex Kekesi of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland said it took three months to complete the visualization, using satellite imagery.

This was reportedly made possible by the use of multiple satellites, following which decades-long view of life on Earth was compressed into a footage of few minutes. The content presented in this new video was gathered by NASA satellites every year since 1997. The scientists were reportedly also able to monitor crop, forest and fisheries health around the globe, apart from noticing long-term changes across continents and ocean basins, report claimed.

The video showed the earth "breathing", including the ebb and flow of the planet's ice and oceans through a view from space.

In a tweet shared by the aeronautic giant, where in they posted a.GIF with the caption, "We're going to have a great view of the state of the biosphere on our planet", it can be seen how over the period the portions under ice has increased (or at least that is what it looks like)".

A new study has revealed that the exoplanet 55 Cancri e, which is twice as big as Earth, most likely has an atmosphere thicker than Earth's but with ingredients that could be similar to those of the only living planet's atmosphere.

"The entire Eastern Pacific, from the coast of South America all the way to the dateline, transitioned from what was the equivalent of a biological desert to a thriving rainforest".

"We thought Enceladus was just boring and cold until the Cassini mission discovered a liquid water subsurface ocean", Cable says, referring to how the Cassini-Huygens mission spotted water shooting from the Saturnian moon, and that the chemical composition of that spray that resembles ocean chemistry.

"It's one of a kind. It also showed that the ocean and all the life within it is amazingly resilient - if given half a chance".
