The United injury list contains Nemanja Matic, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly.

Pogba clumsily suggested during an interview with BBC Football Focus earlier last weekend that he hoped key City players would suffer injuries, in order to help United claw back the eight-point deficit they are now nursing in second place.

United will be without the French midfielder for Premier League games against Bournemouth and West Brom, as well as City, over the next fortnight.

However, as per the aforementioned report from the Telegraph this evening, suggestions are beginning to grow that Pogba could in fact have a further fixture attached to his sanction, if he is found guilty of applauding referee Andre Marriner's decision to send him off.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo have only just returned from serious knee injuries, while Pogba came back into the fold following a hamstring injury.

"Considering he got the red card a few minutes afterwards I think he got emotional I think he lost his head".

FA Cup: United at home in third round
They face their bitter rivals next in the Premier League too, in what is now a precursor for the plumb FA Cup clash. All third-round ties will take place on the weekend of January 6.

"I don't believe in that", De Bruyne said. I'm a very straight- forward guy. If someone believes it is karma then OK.

"Pogba makes a big, big difference". He is sitting out the Moscow clash - as he did the Arsenal match - to guard against fatigue. "He sometimes needs some very hard work on the muscular area which supports knee which had problems". These days he can not play and we chose to do that after Watford.

"He's on this cycle of work divided between the gym and the pitch". He'll be out again tomorrow (Tuesday), but back to normal work after CSKA.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has hinted that fullback Luke Shaw could be close to some rare action as he "deserves a chance".

Shaw, 22, has only made two appearances for the Red Devils this season, both coming in the EFL Cup, and the left-back is being linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the January transfer window.

'When you speak about Luke you are right, he's working for an opportunity. "Whether he starts or be on the bench I can not answer", Mourinho said.
