GETTY Cristiano Ronaldo is livid with Real Madrid

Ronaldo had won the "Best" award from Federation Internationale de Football Association last October after he helped Real Madrid win the Spanish League title and the 2017 Champions League.

As usual, the battle for the Ballon d'Or is widely expected to be between Lionel Messi and Ronaldo, with the victor to be announced on Thursday.

The French gaffer is not anxious about Ronaldo's lack of form in La Liga this season, however, adamant that the Portugal star will "come good".

"Nothing has ever happened between him and me", the 31-year-old told TVE, per the Daily Mail.

It's reported that two of the club's biggest players, Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos, fell out following that defeat.

"Just last season he had fantastic season. Maybe in Spain decisions would take a long time to be made because of some people's insecurities".

UCL: Juve, United, Roma secure round of 16 spots; Atletico crash out
Ahead of its visit to Real Madrid on Wednesday, Dortmund has just two points from five games, the same as Cypriot team APOEL. Due to their superior head-to-head record against Real Madrid, Tottenham will qualify as winners of Group H.

Images have emerged online of a leaked front cover of France Football magazine, which appears to show that Barcelona's Lionel Messi will be this year's Ballon d'Or recipient.

"The Ballon d'Or is important for us and for Cristiano because it's unbelievable to be able to win a fifth Ballon d'Or but as I said, for us the most important thing is to be a team and win for the team".

"I see Cristiano train every day and he is doing fine".

"He's the best player in the world and he has already scored many goals this season and he will score way more goals for sure".

In the Champions League, Madrid will have to settle for second place in their group, finishing behind Tottenham, who beat the holder's 3-1 at Wembley in November.
