PayPal Subsidiary Hit With Data Breach

Another day, another notable breach: This time it's a PayPal firm

PayPal acquisition TIO Networks leaked 1.6 million customer details in breach

PayPal-owned payment processing provider TIO Networks says the personal details of as many as 1.6 million people could have been compromised.

And they have admitted that they have "identified a potential compromise of personally identifiable information for approximately 1.6 million customers".

"Anywhere that a customer pays their utility payment in person", Archie said.

A PayPal spokesman said that information possibly included customer names, addresses, Social Security numbers and login credentials.

Five things we learned from the Champions League
United join fellow group winners Manchester City , Tottenham , Barcelona , Besiktas , Roma and Paris St-Germain in the next phase. Ahead of its visit to Real Madrid on Wednesday, Dortmund has just two points from five games, the same as Cypriot team APOEL.

TIO Networks, a Canadian subsidiary of PayPal, was hit with a data breach that may have exposed personal information from over one million consumers. The hope was it could eventually introduce TIO's cash-based users to more of PayPal's digital services, helping the company bring in more active users to its base of almost 200 million customers. "We are doing all we can to help".

TIO Networks now has about 14 million customer bill pay accounts for utilities, telecommunications, cable or wireless bills, and processed over $7 billion in bill payments a year ago. We have remained in daily contact with the vendor companies since they abruptly and unexpectedly disabled their system on November 10 for suspected "security vulnerabilities". Individuals who are affected will be contacted directly and receive instructions to sign up for monitoring.

Duke Energy Carolinas customers who need to make a payment can do so at any Western Union location or can pay by check, debit or credit card by calling 800-777-9898, select option 2 for "billing and payments", then option 1 to make a payment.

This payment process will remain in place until a permanent solution is found for Duke Energy walk-in locations, officials said.
