"It was 21 people originally last year and this year I think we're a little over 150 and still growing".
Since older kids' needs often are overlooked, please consider donating for those ages 12 to 18. About 150 more children and families are served at the annual Christmas event, which will be from 1 to 3 p.m. December 25 at the Emmanuel Community Center, 3510 Prospect Ave.
Toys For Tots is run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. The program reaches 792 communities covering all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
And thanks to the generous donations from all of the small business owners who joined the club they now have a mission to help more than just the kids.

A Kansas City charity is appealing for toys so that each of the more than 500 children it serves can have a Christmas gift. "And there's some in other surrounding communities, but in Midland there is not one", said Kent Aloia, coordinator of Bay County's Toys for Tots. "They ask customers if they want to round up or pay $1 or $5 for Toys for Tots".
