Jahlil Okafor's days of suffering on the pine in Philadelphia have finally come to an end.

The Philadelphia 76ers are nearing agreement to trade Jahlil Okafor to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for forward Trevor Booker, league sources tell ESPN.

The Brooklyn Nets will release guard Sean Kilpatrick, reports The Vertical's Shams Charania.

Players of a similar ilk, like Greg Monroe and Al Jefferson, have recently made an impact coming off the bench to give second units some scoring punch. The change of scenery seemed to help Russell, who was averaging a team-high 20.9 points per game this season before suffering a knee injury.

The 76ers declined to exercise the option on Okafor's 2018-19 deal, which means he would hit free agency in July. However, he has appeared in just two games this season.

The No. 3 pick by the Sixers in the 2015 draft had fallen out of favor in Philly, buried on the depth chart and seeking trade dating back to last season.

Okafor, 21, will now receive a fresh start to a once-promising career, which included averages of 17.5 points, seven rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 53 games as a rookie. He was the eighth overall pick by the Kings in the 2014 NBA Draft.
