Soulcalibur VI Announced And Its Coming In 2018

The weapons-based fighting game is more accessible than Capcom's Street Fighter series, with controls that are easier to pick up.

It's now pencilled in for a 2018 release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam.

According to Bandai Namco, SoulCalibur VI will have an "epic" story mode, revamped gameplay mechanics, and "dynamic fights enhanced by cinematic-styled combat". Finally, Bandai Namco has revealed that the highly anticipated SoulCalibur 6 will be released in 2018.

Like this year's Tekken 7 the game is being built using Unreal Engine 4, and is scheduled for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC (so no Switch version). Perhaps a gear system similar to Injustice 2?

It's been almost five years since the last time we stepped into the arena, brandished our shields and our swords, and let our souls burn in a heated battle. Not that we're complaining.

It'll also be interesting to see whether the new sequel takes advantage of the series' reputation for great single-player content, something which more recent games have consistently failed to do.
