At 9-4, the Saints are looking to fend off division rivals Atlanta and Carolina for a playoff spot in the NFC, with a rash of injuries in the Thursday night loss to the Falcons making that more hard.
If the NFL truly cares about the safety of the players, then it must find a way to address the concern moving forward if it insists on making Thursday Night Football a regular part of the schedule.
The problem with getting rid of Thursday Night Football in its current form, as always, comes down to money.
The good news is that Alvin Kamara seems to be fine and will probably be good to go for the next Saints game against the Jets on December 17.
"It's 100 percent a product of playing on Thursday night", Brees said after the 20-17 loss to Atlanta on Thursday night, according to The Advocate. "Muscle injuries, especially soft-tissue injuries, come from fatigue, and when you're playing that close after a game on Thursday, chances are higher". Though Kamara suffered a concussion - an injury that would have happened regardless of the time between games - Kenny Vaccaro and A.J. Klein both left due to groin injuries, while Trey Hendrickson left following an ankle injury.
Luxor Tomb Discovery Could Inflate Egypt's Sagging Tourist Industry
Antiquities Minister Khaled al Enany said the discovery in Luxor, one of Egypt's key tourist destinations, was highly significant. Since Kampp's discovery, "both tombs were left untouched" until an Egyptian archaeological mission started work.
Having played just four days prior against the Carolina Panthers, the Saints quarterback was irate about the quick turnaround. And to have to turn around four days later and to play, look at the injury studies, they're off the charts.
"I can sit here and tell you that no player likes putting himself at risk on four days' rest, to come and put their bodies through what they put them through in a game", Brees noted. "So you hope that it's addressed [this offseason], you hope that it's talked about, and you hope that something is done about it".
"From a player safety standpoint, that short rest, that short recovery from a Sunday NFL game is tough", Armstead said. "I gotta be smarter than that", Payton said.
Saints coach Sean Payton was also asked why he thinks there were so many injuries in the game. Listen, I've never seen anything like it. "But our guys, we'll bounce back".
"To me, it's very simple what they should do - they should remove a preseason game, have three preseason games", Morstead said.
