Apple said that it was not intentionally sabotaging older iPhones but it was nevertheless offering an olive branch in the form of cheaper battery replacement.

Along with the Global reduction, Apple India has announced new prices for the replacement batteries on the Apple iPhone 6, Apple iPhone 6 Plus, Apple iPhone 5S, Apple iPhone SE, Apple iPhone 6s, Apple iPhone 6S Plus, Apple iPhone 7, and Apple iPhone 7 Plus. Upon checking the phone using the processor benchmarking service Geekbench, the user discovered the device's CPU was significantly slower with the old battery.

In addition, Apple plans to update its iOS so that iPhone users can check the battery status in real time and see how the software update affects their performance. Some market observers have speculated the iPhone battery issue has been exaggerated by the media or key opinion leaders, as loyal iPhone users were aware that the battery life of the old phones could be affected by the latest iOS upgrade.

The revelation led to numerous complaints from iPhone users that Apple was deliberately throttling their devices without informing them why or giving them the ability to opt out. When the performance of the lithium-ion batteries on older iPhones degraded, they caused the iPhones to shutdown unexpectedly.

We've got to say we're are impressed with the speed in which Apple has addressed this situation.

For all the above-mentioned iPhones, the battery replacement charge has been brought down from ₹6,000 to ₹2,000. However, Apple Korea received criticism for not following suit with an apology or compensation.

Apple management has clearly learned from the Samsung lesson and moved quickly to prevent the so-called battery-gate issue from spreading to 2018, and taking the opportunity to boost component transparency to win back users' trust and put an end to negative chatter during the holiday period. By not recognizing the battery-related performance problems earlier, Apple also basically acknowledged that it doesn't test new releases of iOS on iPhones with older batteries.
