A group of bipartisan senators has reached a deal on legislation to protect younger immigrants brought to the country illegally, a spokesman for Sen.

But he reiterated that he would not approve any deal with congressional leaders without his signature border wall or restrictions on legal immigration. During a 2016 campaign event in Miami, he said "the Haitian people deserve better" and told the audience of Haitian-Americans he wanted to "be your greatest champion, and I will be your champion". "If you don't have the wall, you can't have security".

U.S. District Judge William Alsup granted a request by California and other plaintiffs to prevent President Donald Trump from ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program while their lawsuits play out in court.

One of the sticking points in discussing a deal has been how much it should include.

The reported language was the latest in a long string of anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim comments by Trump that have been condemned as racist.

Flake also admitted to reporters that the Democrats' have not agreed on a border security plan, which President Trump and the GOP is requiring - along with an end to chain migration and the visa-lottery - as part of any deal.

"President Trump called on Congress to solve the DACA challenge".

Trump said on Twitter Friday that his language during the meeting was "tough", but "this was not the language used".

"What about a clean DACA bill now, with a commitment that we go into a comprehensive immigration reform procedure?" proposed Feinstein. He didn't say exactly what he believes that should entail.

Tuesday's meeting is unlikely to produce a quick compromise.

Lawmakers and their staffs did admit to some of those visiting that they might not have things done by January 19th. Trump decided in September to end the Obama-era initiative on March 5.

Paige's In-Ring Career Reportedly Done
It's being said the company wants to keep her in a non-wrestling role much like Daniel Bryan now is the GM of Smackdown Live. Born to a pair of British pro wrestlers, Paige has been involved in the professional wrestling business nearly all her life.

"The fact remains - the only way to guarantee legal status for the Dreamers is to pass DACA protections into law and do it now", Senator Schumer said.

For many in Trump's base, particularly supporters who hitched their hopes on Trump for curbing both illegal and legal immigration, Trump's bipartisan meeting was more than alarming. And, it would reallocate the diversity visas for other uses, said Cotton of Arkansas.

President Donald Trump is really playing the role of moderator as Congress attempts to reach a deal on legislation that would shield hundreds of thousands of young immigrants from deportation, moderate Democratic Sen.

"There are ways to accomplish the goal in which the interest of both sides can be achieved", Menendez told reporters.

He also denied demanding that Haitians be removed from negotiations about protected status for people from certain countries.

Schumer said Democrats were open to border measures that would help, and even fencing where it was deemed necessary. Sanaa Abrar manages policy and advocacy for United We Dream, one of the main outside groups advocating for a permanent DACA fix.

"There's nothing to this but politics", Schumer said.

In a move rare for any president, Trump let the camera-wielding press pool stay for 55 minutes, which Trump transformed into a reality show episode - one with enormous real consequences for DREAMers in danger of being deported.

"Mr. President, you need to be clear, though, " McCarthy said, leaning over from his perch to Trump's left.

The details of the deal - which was agreed upon by Sens. "The President and all those attending the meeting know what I said and how I feel". Durbin said people would be allowed to stay in the US who fled here after disasters hit their homes in places including El Salvador, Guatemala and Haiti. He was right, but he did, and now we have this judge saying it was within executive parameters to bypass Congress.
