Liam Livingstone called-up in England Test squad for New Zealand tour

James Vince and Mark Stoneman

James Vince averaged 26.88 in the Ashes while Mark Stoneman averaged 25.77

The newly-appointed Lancashire captain made two T20 appearances against South Africa last summer to give him a first taste of global cricket after his impressive performances in the Specsavers County Championship and on the Lions tour of Sri Lanka.

EOIN MORGAN said Alex Hales deserved his second chance with England after the opening batsman made a first appearance for his country since his infamous night out in Bristol in September.

England squad: J Root (Yorkshire, captain), M Ali (Worcestershire), J Anderson (Lancashire), J Bairstow (Yorkshire), S Broad (Nottinghamshire), A Cook (Essex), M Crane (Hampshire), B Foakes (Surrey), L Livingstone (Lancashire), D Malan (Middlesex), C Overton (Somerset), B Stokes (Durham), M Stoneman (Surrey), J Vince (Hampshire), C Woakes (Warwickshire), M Wood (Durham).

Meanwhile, the selectors have left out Gary Ballance, Jake Ball and Tom Curran from the squad that recently lost the Ashes series 0-4 in Australia. He's very aggressive. He is feisty, looks to get into the batsman's space.

Stokes spent some of his childhood in west Cumbria, but was born and raised in New Zealand until he was 12.

The freaky shake-up was mercilessly mocked by cricket commentators.

"It does seem remarkable that despite their repeated collective failure in the Ashes, England's top and middle order are set to remain unchanged" @Aggerscricket on the NZ Test squad.

Working with countries like India always a good thing: Donald Trump
Apparently Trump was supposed to announce the sale of 52 F-35 fighter jets to Norway, but here we are. In fact most of your energy or your electricity is produced by hydro.

Australia's six-wicket loss to Pakistan a year ago ended their nine-match ODI winning streak at the MCG. So it's his fault. too amusing. Livingstone already featured in the T20I squad against South Africa.

England batsman Joe Root is fit to play in Sunday's first one-day global against Australia in Melbourne after recovering from a viral illness.

Livingstone added: "My ultimate goal is to play Test cricket for England, and going to Australia with the Lions was the best way to give myself the best chance of doing that. During the recent Lions tour of Australia, he was a standout performer and showed a lot of maturity in his attitude and put in some strong performances".

He is now with England's limited-overs squad as they look to exact a measure of revenge for the Ashes.

Stokes, who played a number of T20 matches for Canterbury this summer, has been selected, but his participation depends on the outcome of his legal case with the Crown Prosecution Service in the UK. Nearly three months ago, the all-rounder was controversially involved in a fist fight outside a bar in Bristol.
