"This was a deeply personal mistake".
Sheena Greitens, 35, also issued her own statement Wednesday night, saying "We have a loving marriage and an awesome family; anything beyond that is between us and God".
Greitens, the first Jewish governor of Missouri, is slated to speak at the RJC's annual convention next month in Las Vegas.
Eggleston said Greitens took a risk by bringing his faith into the discussion. They must know that the Office of the Circuit Attorney will hold public officials accountable in the same manner as any other resident of our city.
The woman's ex-husband provided local CBS affiliate KMOV with a recording he had made of his conversation with his then-wife about the photograph episode. He denied politics played any role, but said Greitens destroyed his family. A bipartisan group of state lawmakers asked the attorney general to investigate as well.
During the campaign, Greitens cast himself as an outsider going up against a career politician, the state's Democratic attorney general.
In the recording, the woman is heard telling her then-husband she had "I met Eric a year ago and I instantly had a big crush on him". "Eric took responsibility, and we dealt with this together honestly and privately". This personal matter has been addressed by the Governor and Mrs. Greitens privately years ago when it happened.
"I would like to let the investigation play out and see what the real allegations are before I would do that", Beatty said. Senator Brandon Ellington (D-Kansas City) went as far as telling the Star that Greitens' actions could constitute a felony, adding, "Due to the serious nature of these accusations, I believe Eric Greitens cannot effectively function as governor and I strongly urge him to resign".
GKN - Offer rejected, Automotive and Aerospace to separate
It also named former Ford executive Anne Stevens as chief executive, a role she has held on an interim basis since January 1st. Those calls became louder after a profit warning in October, which was sparked by the difficulties at its aerospace business.
"He stepped back, I saw a flash through the blindfold and he said: "you're never going to mention my name, otherwise there will be pictures of me everywhere", she said".
Greitens has strongly denied the blackmail allegation.
But the governor denies allegations that he blindfolded the woman and took a nude picture of her to use as blackmail.
The Legislature adjourned Thursday for the long Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.
The statement from Greitens and his wife doesn't address the affair specifically or the allegations, but in a separate statement Greitens' attorney, Jim Bennett, said, "There was no blackmail and that claim is false". Lawmakers were not expected to return until Tuesday.
"We have been asked repeatedly by reputable news outlets why we believe this almost three-year-old news story is coming out now".
Sheena Greitens is an assistant professor in the political science department at the University of Missouri and co-director of the university's Institute for Korean Studies. The governor was married once before and divorced in 2003. According to Watkins, the ex-husband says Greitens became upset when the woman said she had sex with the ex-husband during a period when they were trying to reconcile. Crucially, the woman has refused to grant interviews about the affair, but that didn't stop KMOV from splashing the story just hours after the governor's State of the State speech last night.
