Phenomenal 2017 sees Suffolk's Ed Sheeran nominated for four Brit Awards

Singer Dua Lipa received the most nominations.

Liam Payne, who was nominated for best British single and best video for Strip That Down, has hailed the power of British music.

The former One Direction singer, who has been nominated for two BRIT Awards for his debut solo single Strip That Down, said he has been working on a little display area in the home he shares with fellow successful singer Cheryl Tweedy where they can display all the awards they have won for their music.

Gorillaz, London Grammar, Royal Blood, Wolf Alice and The xx are up for British Group, while Dave, Dua Lipa, J Hus, Loyle Carner and Sampha will battle it out for British Breakthrough Act.

The coveted best British album category includes Dua's self-titled album, Ed Sheeran's divide, J Hus' Common Sense, Stormzy's Gang Signs & Prayer, and Rag N Bone Man's Human.

Taylor Swift, Pink, Lorde, Alicia Keys and Björk were all nominated for best global female, with Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Childish Gambino (the stage name for Donald Glover), Beck and DJ Khaled nominated for best worldwide male.

Foo Fighters - who will perform at the 38th Brits next month - are nominated for best worldwide group alongside fellow USA acts Haim, The Killers and LCD Soundsystem, as well as Canadian group Arcade Fire.

Wave one (January 31) will include new contender Aegislash and supports Mega Rayquaza and Mimikyu. A new version of "Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze" will also be arriving to the hybrid console.

The nominees were announced during a special live ITV show "The BRITs Are Coming", hosted by Emma Willis.

'I built this little bar, well I bought the tools, ' Liam told Bang Showbiz.

And on going head-to-head with Harry and Zayn, he said: "No it's fantastic".

"Everyone is doing so well, don't fix it if it's not broken".

And Paloma said: I don't think I will win because the album has only been released eight weeks.

The band - who previously won seven BRIT Awards - went on an indefinite hiatus back in 2016 and, despite having no plans to reunite anytime soon, Liam insisted that they are very much still a band.

Ed Sheeran and Liam Gallagher were nominated in the same category for the 2018 BRIT Awards.
