Andy Carroll celebrates scoring for West Ham against West Brom

Chelsea's pursuit of West Ham striker Andy Carroll appears to be unravelling after tests reportedly showed the striker's ankle injury could rule him out for up to six weeks.

Despite netting 17 goals in 50 appearances for Chelsea since his £33m arrival from Marseille 18 months ago, Michy Batshuayi has never fully earned the trust of Antonio Conte.

Once the Blues sign a new striker, it is thought that Michy Batshuayi will be allowed to leave the club with West Ham, Roma, Sevilla and Marseille all having been linked.

Chelsea's transfer targets in Andy Carroll and Peter Crouch has got everyone talking including legendary midfielder Frank Lampard.

West Ham's Andy Carroll was a previous target, however, he now faces another lengthy battle with injury.

The paper said that Carroll, 29, is wanted by the Stamford Bridge club owing to his height but Crystal Palace's Christian Benteke is also among the options being considered.

Crouch could well be tempted by the transfer, as The Telegraph add he was a boyhood Blues fan.

The 28-year-old Spain worldwide has scored one goal and made six assists in 22 Premier League games for Chelsea so far this season.

But Chelsea's interest in the former Liverpool man is an odd one, considering he will turn 37 at the end of January and has not impressed in a struggling Stoke team.

The Spanish defender has developed into one of the Premier League's finest defenders since his move to Chelsea from Marseille in the summer of 2012.

A fee of £20 million is touted for the player who hasn't scored more than 10 Premier League goals in a single season since 2010-11.

According to The Sun, the Blues are keeping a close eye on England worldwide and West Ham United forward Andy Carroll.

The Potters are in the relegation zone-a point from safety-and Crouch has managed just four goals and two assists in all competitions this season.
