When Urban Meyer said last month that quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator Ryan Day turned down an SEC head coaching job to stay with Ohio State, that was a major win for the Buckeyes.
It wasn't common for announcers, fellow teammates and coaches to call Mike Vrabel a "leader" or "general" on the field whenever he was an active linebacker for the New England Patriots or Kansas City Chiefs.
Vrabel made the comments at an introductory press conference in Nashville, Tenn., a day after being named to replace Mike Mularkey as head coach. Just 42 years old Vrabel is one of the youngest head coaches in the National Football League, and a much different voice than recently fired 56-year-old coach Mike Mularkey. He started coaching in 2011 at his alma mater, Ohio State. The last four seasons he was with the Houston Texans, including a stint as their defensive coordinator in 2017.
However, this does not come as much of a surprise given the Titans' recent string of moves. Arizona, Detroit and New York Giants have yet to hire new coaches.
Though his tenure was short, it could have been longer: The Titans had offered Munchak an opportunity to return, even with a contract extension, if he would agree to reshape his coaching staff.

"When you are around guys like Mike you know that it is inevitable that he is going to be a head coach", Houston coach Bill O'Brien told the Titans' website on Saturday. He was assistant head coach in 2015 and 2016.

Philadelphia police said a man is accused of punching a police horse and an officer during an arrest before the Eagles' 38-7 NFC championship victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
Wide receiver Adam Thielen also was a limited participant at practice after being held out the day before because of a lower back injury. Tennessee featured one of the league's slowest offenses with Mike Mularkey calling the shots in 2017. He played with the Patriots from 2001-2008.
After spending a pair of years as Atlanta's quarterbacks coach, LaFleur joined head coach Sean McVay's staff in Los Angeles last winter and had a significant impact on quarterback Jared Goff's second-year development. The Browns are expected to upgrade their offense through free agency and in the draft, using either the No. 1 or No. 4 picks on a quarterback. He grew within his role quickly, and in order for them to retain him in 2016, they had to promote him to defensive coordinator for fear of losing him to other teams.
