House of Cards actor Reg E. Cathey dies at 59

One of the writers from House Of Cards, Beau Willimon, took to Twitter to commemorate the fallen actor and said he was "one of a kind", and was "brimming with life force", as well as gravitas, talent, humor, and generosity.

Carey was born in Huntsville, Alabama and raised for some of his life in Germany, died at his NY home, where friends and family members gathered to be with him in his last moments, according to TMZ. Friends and family were at his bedside.

Cathey, known for his roles in The Wire and House of Cards, has died at the age of 59. Cathey scored three guest Emmy nominations for the role, coming home with the trophy in 2015. "Reg, your memory is a great blessing".

Cathey was born in Hunstville, Ala., studied theater at the University of MI and Yale School of Drama, and never looked back. The Wire creator David Simon announced Cathey's death in a heartfelt tweet earlier today. "House of Cards" co-star Michael Kelly added, "There are words". Cathey won the award for outstanding guest actor in a drama series for "House of Cards" at the Emmys in 2015.

In 2006 Cathey was cast as Norman Wilson on The Wire, appearing in 23 episodes over the course of the show's final two seasons.

More recent work by Cathey includes the 2018 film Tyrel, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and as Zakariyya Lacks in the 2017 HBO television movie The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Loved by everyone lucky enough know him and work with him.
