In the trailer, Sora & co. transform into monsters themselves, before teaming up with Mike and Sully in a battle through their malevolent employers' industrial setting.

Also, within the initial trailer two characters important to the story that haven't been seen in the game's new engine Marluxia and Vanitas were shown as well. Square Enix will announce a final release date for Kingdom Hearts 3 at E3 2018. She uses it to traverse environments and can also whip enemies with it. There's also a mini game which looks similar to a Game & Watch title.

Kingdom Hearts III is one of this year's most anticipated games. The reason for this is that Square Enix has made a habit of revealing more about the game at the different D23 expos over the years, so we we were fairly certain they wouldn't let us down at this week's expo either. The early phase worlds are 90 percent complete, while middle section worlds are at around 60 percent. A video featuring the game's new theme song - performed by J-pop megastar Utada Hikaru, as with the original Kingdom Hearts and its sequel - was also revealed. He added: "It is bound to surprise everyone".
