Hardik Patel meets Mamata Banerjee, gets offer to join Trinamool Congress

Patel was not specific in use of the term President's rule but he apparently meant the non-NDA governments would be destablised if Modi remains in power after the next general elections.

All opposition parties should come together before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee should be the face of the united front, Patidar leader Hardik Patel said in Kolkata on Friday after meeting the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo at the state secretariat. "I have only read about Mahatma Gandhi, but Mamata didi comes across to me as a Lady Gandhi", he added. I requested him to join politics.

Criticising Narendra Modi for remaining silent on the important issues, Hardik Patel said he wants to see someone as the Prime Minister of the country who will speak on core issues like education, employment, agriculture, health and security or safety of the country and not someone who spends 90 minutes criticising the opposition in the Parliament.

Praising West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her "simplicity", he promised to campaign for her in 2019 Lok Sabha polls in Bengal. On her part, Banerjee described Patel as "like my younger brother". "I wish him all the best", she said. "After Indira Gandhi, she has been the epitome of struggle for the cause of the people", he reiterated.

"He is very good, very political, very sensitive also".

Zaha out for a month
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has announced winger Wilfried Zaha will not be available for the Eagles game againstEverton this weekend.

"There are so many Gujaratis and people from the Kurmi community in West Bengal".

Patel also invited the Trinamool chief to visit Gujarat for women empowerment.

Asked if a political pact was discussed, Patel said he was invited to join Trinamul when he made a decision to enter politics. "If he does, I will give him all cooperation and support", said Banerjee.

The Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti Convenor had met Banerjee on Friday evening and said he was asked to join her Trinamool Congress.
