"I first made a decision to run for Congress because my family, my friends, and my neighbors deserve better representation in government, and I felt called to act", he said in a statement.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Monday released a congressional district map to replace one it ruled violated the state Constitution.

The map, which the court had ordered after ruling that the current version is overly partisan, does away with the wackily shaped districts that are the hallmarks of gerrymandering.

Mountain Top municipalities are also split.

Ferguson Township Democrat Marc Friedenberg, who had been running for the nomination to challenge Thompson in the 5th District, announced on Monday night that he will now challenge Marino in the 12th district.

Candidates will be able to begin sending petitions to run in their new districts on February 27. Districts 8 and 9 are sized at 705,687 - one person less than the mean size. He's going to act as the prosecutor by presenting the evidence, the juror by evaluating the evidence, and he's exclusively going to act as a judge by producing a map for the people of Pennsylvania to live under.

A portion of southwestern Butler County, a part of Cranberry Township, would be lumped into the new 17 Congressional District, along with Beaver County and the northern part of Allegheny.

In addition to part of Luzerne County, the proposed District 8 includes all of Lackawanna, Monroe, Pike and Wayne counties.

Leinbach doesn't like that part of Berks is lumped with seven other counties.

The mob even tried to set the prime accused, Sanjay Sobor, and his 25-year-old accomplice, Jagdish Lohar, on fire. As per the reports, after killing the duo, the people fled from the area before the police could reach the spot.

The map stands in force unless someone successfully challenges it. He said and he supports the state Supreme Court decision to overturn the congressional map approved by the Legislature after the 2010 U.S. Census.

Persily, who pretty much wrote the playbook for when courts draw district maps, has also been appointed as a Special Master by courts in New York, Connecticut, Georgia, and Maryland. That deadline was missed when Gov. Tom Wolf rejected a plan put forward by Republican legislative leaders.

The new map repackages districts that had been stretched almost halfway across Pennsylvania and reunifies Democratic-heavy cities that had been split by Republican map drawers six years ago. "Doing it now, in the middle of an election cycle, has created chaos among the voters and the candidates".

Meanwhile, sitting congressmen, dozens of would-be candidates and millions of voters were beginning to sort out which district they live in barely a month before the candidates' deadline to submit paperwork to run.

The 11th district was historically based in the Luzerne County and known as "the Coal Cracker district", Wilkes University political science professor Thomas Baldino said.

"I think this is a ideal example of check and balances", Pashinski said. These candidates have been running for a year, and all of a sudden, they don't know what district they are running in, and voters don't know who to vote for.

Meanwhile, Republicans get nearly no help in the one place where they stood to gain. "We identify as southern Luzerne County and in many respects as a larger community".

Still, the political environment heading into 2018 will probably limit the effects of the new map.

"All of this last-minute forced map drawing is unfair to the voters and is purely political", Toohil said. We're here to represent you.
