Indianapolis' Bob Kravitz reports the Colts and impending free agent K Adam Vinatieri are "closing in" on a one-year contract. The deal had been rumored all week, but Adam Schefter reported on Thursday that it had been agreed upon.

Vinatieri, who is now No. 2 on the all-time scoring list with 2,487 points, needs 58 more points to surpass Hall of Famer Morten Andersen for the National Football League record.

The 45-year-old said after the season he meant to keep playing, and it always made sense for both sides to hammer out a new deal.

Centrica to cut 4000 more jobs as headwinds strengthen
The majority of the 4,000 jobs lost will be in the United Kingdom , where 30,000 of its 35,000-strong global workforce are based. He said the company has "no regrets" over its decision to sell its stake in Hinkley Point C in 2013.

Vinatieri only needs 58 points to secure the title for the most points ever scored in a career. Andersen played 25 seasons in his career.

Vinatieri made 29-of-34 field goals (85.3 percent) and 22-of-24 extra points (91.7 percent) in 15 games for the Colts last season. He's averaging 113.0 points per season for his career. He played in four Super Bowls with the Patriots, winning three, kicking late game-winning field goals in two, and scoring the winning points in the third. Two of those missed field goals came in blizzard conditions in Buffalo, though.
