KFC Apologizes For Running Out Of Chicken: "It's Not Ideal"

“A chicken restaurant without any chicken. It’s not ideal,” the advertisement read. “It’s been a hell of a week.”

Chicken to be destroyed following KFC fiasco

Fast-food fans were in a flutter Monday after most of the 900 KFC outlets in the United Kingdom and Ireland were forced to close because of a shortage of chicken.

The restaurant bought a full-page spread in the Sun and Metro newspapers that shows an empty bucket of chicken with crumbs.

The ad, featured in the Friday edition of the paper, included a comic reordering of the brand name's lettering to spell out "FCK".

KFC said it is is struggling to find charities which will accept the surplus chicken - as many have safety policies which rule out accepting fresh meat. The chain blamed the shortage on "operational issues" during deliveries.

The fowl shortage, which KFC attributed to delivery issues, forced the chain to close more than half of its 900 British restaurants this week.

"England is nearly a full week into its "chicken drought", the result of KFC switching food distributors to save money, only to have that backfire tremendously when its new bargain-rate delivery partner, DHL, didn't, uh, deliver".

"We wouldn't want to open without offering our full menu... but we'll be back at the fryers as soon as we can". "Thank you for bearing with us", the finishing remark reads.

The Clacton store has now re-opened as are many more across Essex.
