Pelicans extend win streak to nine with defeat of Clippers Video

LOS ANGELES CA- MARCH 6 Anthony Davis #23 of the New Orleans Pelicans shoots the ball against the LA Clippers

Davis' monster game carries Pelicans past Clippers

The red-hot Pelicans visit Sacramento Wednesday night and all eyes will be on MVP-candidate Davis and his ribs as the team tries to knock off the bottom-feeding Kings, who have been big problems for the Pels.

NBA.com noted Davis left in the third quarter after landing on Kosta Koufos' foot while going for a rebound. While Davis was able to walk to the locker room under he own power, he was moving gingerly. Davis, who left Tuesday's game briefly with a rib injury, is averaging over 28 points and 11 rebounds per game this season. "So, when he goes to the locker room, if there's any chance that he can play, he's going to come back out and play".

It means the eight-game win streak the Pelicans are bringing into Los Angeles has come at the ideal time.

For the second straight night, Davis was forced to leave his team's game with an injury. Montrezl Harrell had 26 points, and DeAndre Jordan had 10 points and 20 rebounds. He is also on pace to play a full 82 games, something that has only happened once before in his career.

Neiphiu Rio to take oath as Nagaland chief minister
On Wednesday, the NPP wrote to the Governor, stating that it was withdrawing its letter of support to the NDPP-BJP alliance. Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party leader Neiphiu Rio today sworn in as the chief minister of Nagaland.

When he exited the game, he had 10 points and four rebounds but he exploded with 31 points in the second half to lead the Pelicans to their ninth consecutive victory.

It isn't fair to say that New Orleans is better without Boogie, but it is fair to say that his injury has opened the door for Holiday to be that second scoring option.

"I hope so", said Davis about whether Cousins will re-sign. "I really thought that if we won the game, it would have been a robbery", said Rivers, whose team is now 35-30 and a half-game behind the Denver Nuggets for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. More importantly, he has helped the Pelicans win eight straight games, scoring 20+ points in each of those outings. "The thing that we wanted to do is just give ourselves an opportunity at the end of games to win on the road".

"We didn't play great from start to finish", said Williams, an 89-percent free-throw shooter who made only 7 of 13 against the Pelicans.
