Boston Celtics' Kyrie Irving talks of taking extended rest for knee

Boston Celtics guard Terry Rozier

With one month left in the regular season- and with Boston now four games back of the Toronto Raptors in the loss column for the top spot in the East after a 99-97 loss- the Celtics will likely be in no rush to get him back on the court as long as his knee is any type of issue at all. Meanwhile, Smart had 20 points and Tatum scored 19 for the Celtics.

"I think [rest] will probably be the best thing, just instead of kind of hoping it gets better over the two or three days that it usually does", Irving said after the game, as quoted on ESPN. "We got the stop at the end, but we have to continue to grow".

Irving said the knee started bothering him during a March 3 showdown with the Houston Rockets, a game the Celtics lost 123-120. "It's aching a little bit more than I wanted it to now, so I'm taking the necessary time". "I think he got kneed, but I don't think that that is anything more than a knee to knee or knee to thigh right above his knee". It wasn't a good move and hopefully we get those other guys back as soon as possible.

Irving said he was "not concerned" this is a long-term injury and that he hopes surgery will not eventually be needed.

However, the police managed to disperse them after a while and shifted the suspects to an unidentified place for interrogation. A visibly-shocked Sharif stepped back after the attack, but quickly regained his composure and made a short speech.

Turner gave the Pacers the lead again at the low post and, after Rozier's miss, IN hit a pair of foul shots to take a four-point lead.

The collision occurred with 18 seconds left in the game on Terry Rozier's attempted game-tying layup. It's unfortunate timing after Horford scored 20 points and pulled down 8 rebounds on Thursday. Jayson Tatum tied the game up with a pair of free throws with 36.5 seconds to play. Boston, already playing without All-Star big man Al Horford (illness) and Jaylen Brown (concussion), watched a 12-point lead evaporate as IN rallied for the win. But a Myles Turner layup followed by a pair of free throws by Oladipo gave IN a 99-95 lead with 10.4 seconds to play-which is when things almost got interesting.

"Well that is going to be a priority anyway", said Stevens. In their place, Marcus Smart and Marcus Morris were in the starting lineup.

IN quickly erased a 10-point halftime deficit, scoring 11 straight points: back-to-back 3-pointers from Bojan Bogdanovich and Joseph, and then five points in a row from Oladipo, to take a 60-57 lead.
