After the CBI Investigation told Special Judge Sunil Rana they did not require further custody of Karti Chidambaram, the court remanded him in judicial custody.
The Congress earlier alleged that the probe into Karti Chidambaram is a "divisionary tactic" to take the glare away from absconder Nirav Modi and the multi-crore Punjab National Bank scam, and that the government is carrying a vendetta against Congress leaders and their relatives.
The CBI has sought 15-day judicial custody of Karti who in turn has asked the court to hear his bail plea today itself instead of scheduled March 15.
The investigation agency did not press for any further police custody but moved an application for a fifteen day judicial custody while Karti moved an application seeking separate prison cell during judicial custody. "He [Karti Chidambaram] can not be treated different from other accused persons and can not be allowed to be kept in separate prison", the court said.

Another attack was carried out in the province's capital of Farah, six police officers were killed in the assault. The motive behind the attack remained unknown and the Taliban has yet to make comments on the report.
"His father P Chidambaram has dealt with stringent penal laws including TADA and MCOCA, posing a huge security threat to Karti". However, the judge directed Tihar Jail authorities to provide and ensure proper safety and security to Karti during the judicial custody. Organisation investigating me should be concerned about my security.
The court allowed Karti's plea to carry spectacles and medicines, as per prescription subject to examination and approval by jail doctor, as per rules.
After the hearing of arguments from both sides, Karti was sent to custody for 12 days till March 24 and also, his demand for home food was rejected by the court. P. Chidambaram also attended the court hearing, as he has done previously during other hearings.
Karti has been in the custody of the CBI since his arrest on February 28, which was supposed to end on Friday. The CBI FIR, lodged on May 15 previous year, had alleged irregularities in the FIPB clearance to INX Media.
As per reports, the CBI had initially alleged that Karti received Rs 10 lakh as bribe for the FIPB clearance.
The fresh evidence in the case, which triggered Karti Chidambaram's arrest, was based on the statement of Indrani Mukerjea, former director of INX Media (P) Ltd, who recorded it under section 164 of the CrPC before a magistrate on February 17.
