The rain showers will become more widespread overnight Sunday and into Monday.
A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect through 7 AM Saturday for eastern Kentucky and southwest Virginia. Warmer temperatures will ramp up by the end of the work-week, in the 60s. As the storm system pulls offshore there is a slight chance that we could see frozen precipitation late Monday. Highs will top in the lower 40s.
Temperatures will remain below normal across the area until the second half of the week. There is a small chance for a shower early; otherwise we will see clearing skies, breezy conditions and temperatures rising into the 50s on Monday afternoon. That results in gusty winds and temperatures in the 40s for the morning commute. Expect mostly sunny skies and low rain chances through the extended forecast period, around 0-10%. An isolated thunderstorm is possible. After midnight much cooler air is going to rush into the Tennessee Valley on the backside of the system bringing us rain today. Otherwise, increasing sunshine and breezy conditions, those gusts up to around 30 miles per hour at times.
