Having a dark theme has its advantages.

YouTube looks much better with the dark theme, and the viewing experience is definitely superior. YouTube tested the setting on desktop during the first few months of 2017 before rolling out its new desktop design in August.

According to Google, a dark mode was one of the most requested features for its mobile apps. At the time, the feature was said to be available for some mobile users. The app will automatically switch to a darker hue, with no app restart necessary for the change to go into effect. But even with new evidence that the whole app was going dark, it was clear that significant work remained, with some screens stuck in a halfway state: white text, but also a white background. This feature is primarily geared towards users who tend to browse YouTube late at night when the website's ordinary bright colors can be a little hard on the eyes. Let us know in the comments.
