Nicole Kidman will star in HBO's The Undoing, a new limited series that will be written by David E. Kelley, and executive produced by Bruna Papandrea, according to Variety. Grace must dismantle her life and start anew after "a chain of awful revelations", a missing husband and a violent murder.

HBO is re-teaming three of the driving forces behind "Big Little Lies" for the its next big miniseries. In 2017, she was also seen in mystery TV drama Top of the Lake, and films How to Talk to Girls at Parties, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and The Beguiled. "I'm excited and honored to continue collaborating with HBO and David E Kelley".

Kelley will write the psychological thriller, based on the Jean Hanff Korelitz novel You Should Have Known, and serve as showrunner.

The producers are now searching for a director.

A search for a director is underway, HBO said. The project has yet to announce an episode count, although Deadline reported the series will likely be in the same range as Big Little Lies Season 1, which consisted of seven episodes. Blossom's titles now in development include an adaptation of the literary sleeper hit The Silent Wife, an adaptation of best-seller Reconstructing Amelia, an adaptation of Janice Lee's best-seller The Expatriates, and an adaptation of off-Broadway vampire hit Cuddles. Papandrea will exec produce through her company Made Up Stories.

The Undoing comes shortly after Hulu edged HBO - among other high-profile outlets - for rights to Reese Witherspoon starrer Little Fires Everywhere.

Kidman won an Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award for her role as Celeste Wright on Big Little Lies. Additionally, Kidman and Witherspoon are reuniting for the upcoming second season of BLL at HBO, also penned by Kelley, as well as Truly Madly Deeply, which they are developing together.

Kelley is repped by CAA and attorney Michael Gendler.
