Veteran pro-freedom leader Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai was on Monday elected as the chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, a powerful constituent of Syed Ali Geelani-led Hurriyat Conference faction.
"Geelani sahib himself urged upon TeH Majlis-e-Shora to take decision in this regard", sources said adding "Sehrai was nominated as interim chairman until formal elections are conducted". The replacement is seen as a major development and it would also rest all speculations that who would lead separatist movement after aged Geelani.
