Hello Aarsi wins Best Odia Film in 65th National Film Awards On Apr 13 2018 Pic Source

It was selected as India's official entry in the Best Foreign Language Film category for Oscars 2018, but didn't make it to the final shortlist.

A ten member jury panel headed by Director Shekhar Kapur announced the 65th National Film Awards at the PIB Conference Room. The honour has been given to her for her performance in the film, Mom, that released on July 7, 2017, also marking it as her 300th starring role in her career.

"It was not because of the relationship we shared but because she was the most deserving candidate for her portrayal in "Mom"," said Shekhar Kapur, this year's feature film jury head, said. Apart from being considered the ultimate recognition for films, the awards also hold the distinction of recognising merit across the country and especially in regional cinema. After Sridevi was announced as the Best Actress, Mom director Ravi Udyawar said, " Wow, she deserves it.

Elated with the news about Ghazi winning the Best Telugu film.

Tolet, directed by Chezhiyan won the Best Film in Tamil.

Last year, Syam Pushkaran won the award for Best Screenplay (original) for Maheshinte Prathikaram. It was also recognised as the best Odiya film.

Singer Yesudas won the award for Best Playback Singer Male for Poyi.
