A men's squash pairing from Sierra Leone and a Rwandan para-powerlifting coach are the latest African absentees to go missing from the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Commonwealth Games officials have revealed they are concerned about eight Cameroon athletes who have gone missing, NEWS.com.au reports.

On Monday night, another two were declared missing, and finally, on Tuesday, three others left their room.

Commonwealth Games organisers called for competitors to respect the law, mindful of the fact that more than 100 athletes overstayed their visas at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Seven Olympic athletes from Cameroon, including 5 boxers, a swimmer and a reserve women's goalkeeper also went missing during the London 2012 Olympics.

Meanwhile, most of the remaining Cameroon delegation has left Australia now that their specific competitions are complete.

Commonwealth Games organising committee chairman Peter Beattie said they had worked hard with the Australian government on the entry system and he "encouraged" the 6,000 visiting athletes and officials not to breach the terms of their visas.

Harvey, Irma, Nate, and Maria retired as storm names
Irma - a Category 5 storm, the strongest designation, wrecked havoc on Caribbean islands; Barbuda was nearly completely destroyed. Hurricane Nate didn't make landfall in the USA but slammed into Nicaragua and Panama as a Category 1, causing 44 deaths .

"England have beaten New Zealand over the last couple of years but we've never done it in a major tournament", said goal keeper Geva Mentor.

Cr Dobie said she felt for the management of the Cameroon team.

But because all have Australian visas until May 15, no crime has yet been committed.

It is not the first time athletes have disappeared during major sporting events.

Home Affairs Minster Peter Dutton said that all missing athletes and officials will be shown scant sympathy when caught.

"But when you get to know your teammates as well as we have known each other, I had every faith that Kenny was going to play a couple of rippers which he did".

The Cameroonian athletes on the Gold Coast also have the right to apply for asylum. They are here on a temporary activity visa and are free to travel around the country until it expires in early May.
