This move to sign Morris comes just a day after the Seahawks postponed their scheduled workout with Colin Kaepernick, allegedly because he declined to stop kneeling. According to, he has also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts and Washington Redskins, who waive him a year ago.

ESPN senior correspondent Jemele Hill, who was briefly suspended in October after calling for an advertiser boycott of the Dallas Cowboys, tweeted out her reaction to the Seahawks decision on Kaepernick. He went down the Indianapolis' practice squad inn 2016, but was cut by the team at the start of the 2017 season after signing a futures/reserve contract in January 2017.

Morris was signed by the Jaguars in 2014, as a free agent, but he never played any games.

Kaepernick has a pending lawsuit alleging collusion by the league office, owners and teams to keep him out of the NFL in retaliation for his kneeling protest during the national anthem.

The source said the Seahawks wanted to know that Kaepernick wouldn't kneel this season, and he was unwilling to give that assurance to them. Right or wrong, Kaepernick's anthem protest assures he will not fit that bill.

The team has an opening for Russell Wilson's back-up quarterback.

He is already moving forward with a lawsuit regarding alleged attempts to conspire to keep him out of the National Football League after continually being overlooked by teams who have signed lesser quarterbacks instead of a player who took the 49ers to the Super Bowl.
