Glazer and Jacobson are the creators, directors and showrunners behind Broad City, which was developed from a web series and has been commissioned for its fifth and final season in 2019. "We are very excited to bring new voices and points of view to Comedy Central and continue our collaboration together in new ways".

President of Comedy Central Kent Alterman noted that the decision to end Broad City came from Abbi and Ilana. The duo now have three projects in development under the new deal, including Mall Town USA, Platinum Status and Young Professionals.

The deal reportedly pertains to material Jacobson and Glazer create individually, as well as as a writing team.

Last year, the season premiere of Broad City's fourth season brought the show its best ratings since the series debut in 2014, according to Deadline.

They launched it as a web series in 2010, and fellow UCB alumnus Amy Poehler served as an executive producer when it transferred to TV. The show is written and exec produced by Litt, with Jacobson and Glazer also serving as exec producers. "It's a show about two 20-somethings in NY, and Abbi and Ilana are smart about not wanting to overstretch it beyond plausibility".

Alterman would not reveal details about Season 5 as they are still being formulated but said that the duo's "plans for winding the series up are really exciting".
