Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown knows that All-Star center Joel Embiid is far from thrilled with being sidelined through the first two games of their first-round series against the Miami Heat.
Embiid has been medically cleared to return and his status for Game 3 has not been determined.
Embiid has been out since suffering a fractured orbital bone and concussion on March 28 versus the New York Knicks.
"I promised the city the playoffs and I'm not on the court and I may not be on Thursday either", Embiid said.
Alfie Evans' family dealt fresh court blow
Alfie's parents say their son has improved in recent weeks and had asked Mr Justice Hayden to allow a new assessment. Police are now entering Alder Hey hospital as a crowd of protesters gathers outside chanting "save Alfie Evans!"
"Without getting into private conversations, the flavor that he delivers in our conversations - our private conversations - he just wants to play basketball", Brown told the press after the Sixers' 113-103 Game 2 loss to Miami. "I wish more than anything that I was out there".
The series will head south to Miami for game three and four on Thursday, April 18 and Saturday, April 21. "He wants to be with his team".
The Heat have solid 3-point shooters in Josh Richardson, Tyler Johnson, Wayne Ellington, and Kelly Olynyk. He was a matchup problem as Philly spaced the floor and neutralized Miami's big man, Hassan Whiteside, who played just 12 minutes, 26 seconds.
