Syria's air defenses shot down missiles targeting Shayrat air base in Homs province early Tuesday, state media reported, as a Hezbollah media arm said missiles targeting Dumayr base near Damascus were also intercepted. A group calling itself the Syrian Arab Community unfurled a banner describing the airstrikes a "reckless and irresponsible act" while a protester wrote "Hands Off Syria" on the asphalt in green paint.

State-run news agency SANA reported air defenses had shot down some of the missiles targeting the base.

However, unconfirmed military reports cited by Al-Masdar News finding that the missiles entered Syrian airspace from Lebanon, possibly leading to the Israeli Air Force as the author of the attacks.

An Israeli spokesman also said that "I'm not aware of such an incident".

Javier Hernandez soon rifled home what might have been a Hammers victor , but Carroll had handballed and no goal was given. But this will feel like another loss, having come so close to only a second win in his reign.

Big explosions were heard on Monday night near the same air base, southeast of the city of Homs, and in eastern Qalamoun near Damascus where two other air bases are located, the Syrian Observatory for Human rights reported.

"There is no USA military activity in that area at this time", Eric Pahon, a Pentagon spokesman said. Iran is a longstanding ally of Syrian President Bashar Assad. Those attacks were retaliation for a suspected chemical weapons attack that they blamed on the Syrian government.

The Shayrat Air Base was hit by 5-9 U.S. Tomahawk cruise missiles this past year.
