Ayoze Pérez double embarrasses Chelsea and leaves Antonio Conte irate

Chelsea-Newcastle United Preview

Moses' Chelsea target Champions League spot

Chelsea were denied a place in next season's Champions League when they were well beaten 3-0 at Newcastle as Liverpool easily beat Brighton.

'That's not an excuse, any other time I wouldn't be saying that, but we have a massive week to prepare for a cup final which is very important for us'.

A humiliating 3-0 loss at Saint James' Park against former manager Rafael Benitez ensured that Chelsea would not make it to the elite competition next season.

However, Conte is not anxious about his future with the Blues and has insisted that his team will need to go out and win their game against Newcastle to try and get a Champions League place next season.

Whilst Conte is not entirely responsible for our downfall, the Italian's attitude has been far from professional in recent times and his negative approach to games have also cost the team.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was full of praise for Newcastle after his team's defeat. Newcastle were more determined than us.

"I said before the game it is not about finishing 10th".

The Spaniard, who has a year left on his contract, has been critical of Newcastle's poor transfer dealings throughout the season.

This means that Germany are elevated to a match against Portugal on June 9 for a chance to meet Samoa in the final play-off. They are scheduled to play Japan in the tournament's opening match on September 20 next year at the Tokyo Stadium.

Newcastle are unbeaten in their last four home Premier League games against Chelsea, scoring at least twice in each match (W3, D1).

It was hard not to feel for the band of Chelsea supporters who made the longest away trip on their Premier League calendar. Newcastle are locked into a mid-table finish.

The Terriers on the other hand are in cloud nine after securing their Premier League status for next season.

"For the next game, for sure we must change".

The Cup represents both clubs' only chance of silverware this season, but Conte once again brushed aside mounting rumours that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will dispense with his services at the end of the season. "But on the fight for Champions League qualification, I believe that we will only pick a draw against Newcastle because we haven't won there in a while", he said.

Newcastle clinched Premier League survival weeks ago and they might have taken their foot off of the gas with nothing to play for. Southampton host Champions Manchester City who can finish the season on 100 points.

Should Chelsea fail to qualify for the Champions League, he will be faced with the very real possibility of looking for a new job, as Abramovich will be desperate for the club to see the talented squad produce better performances than they have of late.

"This is my first season not to win a title at either Juventus or Chelsea".
