First Trailer for Spike Lee's 'BlacKkKlansman' Reveals the Provocative Adaptation

BlacKkKlansman Trailer: Spike Lee's True Buddy Cop Movie

Laura Harrier wows while walking up the steps at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival on Monday night (May 14) in Cannes, France.

Based on a true story, the film is set in the 1970s and follows two men and their fight against the Ku Klux Klan.

Lee walked the red carpet wearing brass knuckles from "Do the Right Thing", which said "love" on one hand and "hate" on the other. Of course with Lee at the helm there's going to be meaty material within, and Adam Driver and Ballers standout John David Washington (son of Denzel Washington) look to make a terrific team.

Reading a bit further between the lines: I don't think the Warriors are all too impressed with this Rockets team. If these numbers hold true in this series, the Rockets should wind up heading to the NBA Finals.

It's been a slow Cannes, but "BlacKkKlansman" seems to be one of this year's only buzzy discoveries as the festival enters its second week.

He quickly sets out on a risky mission to infiltrate and expose the Klan, by posing as a racist extremist. Unbelievably, Detective Stallworth (John David Washington) and his partner Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver) penetrate the KKK at its highest levels to thwart its attempt to take over the city.

BlacKkKlansman is due to be released in United Kingdom cinemas on August 24. The film is also produced by Blumhouse and Get Out's Jordan Peele.
