Oppo on Tuesday launched its Realme smartphone brand in partnership with Amazon India.

In its teasers and during the launch, the company had mentioned that the Relame brand has been introduced as a premium mid-range smartphone brand and it will focus on providing good features and design at an affordable price. The latter handset will go live on Amazon in June, but the other two will be made available as early as May 25.

Running Android 8.1 Oreo with ColorOS 5.0 on top, the device features a 13MP rear camera along with an 8MP front-facing camera. Let me elaborate on that point about how this could re-energize Oppo as a company and Realme as a force to reckon with in the smartphone market in India.

The Combined with 4GB of RAM, also contains a 16-megapixel rear camera detector, 8-megapixel front camera detector, and 128GB of onboard storage.

The first sale of the device will be conducted on May 25, noon onwards. The storage in both variants is expandable up to 256GB using a dedicated MicroSD card slot. It is powered by a 3410mAh battery.

In terms of performance, the device is powered by an octa core MediaTek Helio P60 SoC coupled with Mali-G72 MP3 GPU.

The Oppo Realme 1 features a 6-inch full-HD+ display with screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an 84.75 percent screen-to-body ratio. The device also packs dual-core AI-specific chip and comes in three variants based on memory configuration - 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB RAM. The company is also packaging a free screen guard and case for the Realme 1. The handset does not have a fingerprint sensor but supports face unlock.

Under the hood, the phone has a 3,410mAh battery which is sufficient for a full day of normal usage, thanks to the 12nm chipset and all the AI capabilities.

On the imaging front, this phone is mounted with 13MP rear camera with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture with AI Scene Recognition which can intelligently and accurately identify different scenes and objects in real-time to tune the ideal balance of brightness, exposure, color and contrast. Moreover, you can also make use of AR stickers not only for the rear but also for the front camera. Coming to the launch offers, the Realme 1 comes bundled with benefits worth Rs 4,850 from Reliance Jio, while Amazon India is offering no-cost EMI option.
